Kingsley’s 29 leads SFA to 71-62 win over A&M-CC
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP)—Matt Kingsley scored 29 points, including 16 in the second half, to lead Stephen F. Austin to a 71-62 victory over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Wednesday night.
Kingsley hit 9-of-15 from the field, including the Lumberjacks’ first three baskets. He also hit 11-of-12 free-throws.
Josh Alexander added 15 points, including 12 from 3-pointers. Scott Weaver came off the bench to score 10 for Stephen F. Austin (18-3, 6-2 Southland).
Kevin Perkins and Demond Watt each scored 12 points for the Islanders (6-14, 3-4).
The Islanders led briefly in the first half before Stephen F. Austin used an 18-2 run to take a 12-point lead at 24-12 with 4:55 left. The Lumberjacks led 32-23 at the half after shooting 60 percent from the field.
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi tied the game twice in the second half. Free throws by Kingsley and Alexander kept the game out of reach.
