Anderson’s late surge lifts Spiders past Owls
RICHMOND, Va. (AP)—Kevin Anderson scored all six of his points in the final 34 seconds Wednesdy night and Richmond handed Temple just its second loss in the last seven games, 64-58.
The Spiders (12-9, 5-3 Atlantic 10) led 56-53 when Anderson stole the ball from Mark Tyndale and scored on a layup with 34 seconds to play. The Owls (11-10, 4-3) got within two, but Anderson hit four free throws and David Gonzalvez two in the closing seconds.
Richmond went 7:48 without a field goal in the first half and trailed by as many as eight. The Owls led 27-24 at halftime after a 3-pointer by Chris Clark to end the half.
Gonzalvez led the Spiders with 20 points and Kevin Smith had 13.
Clark had a career-high 18 points for the Owls and has hit 10 of 16 3-point shots in his last two games. Dionte Christmas added 14 points and Tyndale 11.
