Janning, Adako lead Northeastern to a 67-60 win over Old Dominion
BOSTON (AP)—Matt Janning had 20 points and Manny Adako added 16 to lead Northeastern to a 67-60 win over Old Dominion Wednesday night.
The Huskies (10-12, 6-6 Colonial Athletic Association) went on a 17-10 run to end a game that was extremely close throughout and featured 23 lead changes, including 19 in the first half.
Both teams played well in the first half but struggled in the final 20 minutes.
Northeastern shot 56 percent from the floor in the opening half but only 24 percent in the second half. Old Dominion (11-13, 6-6 CAA) shot 50 percent in the first and 27 percent in the second.
The Monarchs scored the first six points of the second half to open up a 41-36 lead with 17:00 to go but were then held scoreless over the next 5:27. The Huskies went on a 10-0 run during ODU’s scoreless streak during the first 6:29 of the second half.
Janning put the Huskies ahead for good with a pair of free throws with 8:10 remaining.
The Huskies enjoyed a big advantage at the foul line, making 24 of 27 shots, while the Monarchs hit only 5 of 12.
Abdi Lidonde led the Monarchs with 16 points, thanks to four 3-pointers.
