Mavericks get 22 from Guignard in 3-point win over Broncs

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP)—Rog’er Guignard scored 22 points to lead Texas-Arlington to a 71-68 win Tuesday night over Texas-Pan American.

The Mavericks (15-6) outscored the Broncs 7-2 over the final 2:29. A layup and subsequent free throw by Anthony Vereen gave the Mavericks the lead for good with 1:57 left in the game.

The Broncs (14-13) were down four in the game’s final seconds, until the Mavericks put them on the free-throw line with 0.8 seconds left.

Vereen finished with 13 points and four assists. Larry Posey had a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds, with all of his points coming in the second half.

Texas-Arlington finished with a 34-23 rebounding edge, helped in part by Rod Epps’ nine boards.

Zach Trader scored 21 points for Texas-Pan American. Paul Stoll and Brian Burrell each scored 12.
