Simpson leads Alabama A&M to 73-65 win over Texas Southern

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP)—Trant Simpson had 22 points Monday night to help lead Alabama A&M to a 73-65 win over Texas Southern.

The lead changed hands three times early in the first half, but the Bulldogs (7-12, 4-5 Southwestern Athletic Conference) grabbed the lead, 16-15, on a jumper by Mickell Gladness with 10:27 to go and led 39-28 going into the intermission. They never let Texas Southern (4-18, 3-6 SWAC) pull ahead again.

Mickell had a double-double for the Bulldogs with 19 points and 13 rebounds, while Desmond Jackson added 18 more points.

Matthew Miller led Texas Southern with 21 points. Sollie Norwood added 11 more and Anthony Ike helped out with 10 more.
