Toolson leads Utah Valley past winless N.J. Tech
NEWARK, N.J. (AP)—Ryan Toolson had 29 points—one of four Utah Valley State players in double figures—as the Wolverines beat the New Jersey Institute of Technology 81-69 on Saturday, extending the Highlanders losing streak to 27 games.
Josh Olsen added 16 points and seven assists for Utah Valley State (11-13), while Richard Troyer had 11 points and Jordan Brady finished with 10 points, nine rebounds and three steals.
Nesho Milosevic came off the bench to score 27 points and pull down a game-high 12 rebounds for the Highlanders (0-23), while Kraig Peters had 21 points. NJIT is the only winless school in Division I; its last win came Feb. 19, 2007, when they beat Longwood.
Utah Valley State, which won its fifth straight, was in command for most of the game and led 41-31 at the break. However, the Highlanders rallied late in the second half and eventually cut the deficit to 74-67 on Milosevic’s layup with 1:32 left.
However, the Wolverines then sealed the win with a 7-0 run that featured six points by Toolson.
