Peake’s block seals Winston-Salem’s victory over Florida A&M
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP)—Jamal Durham scored 20 points for Winston-Salem State and Roy Peake blocked Florida A&M’s game-winning 3-point attempt at the buzzer that sealed the Rams’ 59-57 victory Saturday night.
Peake, who failed to start for the first time this season, missed the front end of a one-and-one with less than six seconds left that could have clinched the victory. The Rattlers then got the ball to Leslie Robinson, and Peake swatted away his shot to wrap up the win.
Darius Floyd added 12 points for Winston-Salem State (8-11), which led by 15 and held on to snap a three-game losing streak.
Lamar Twitty had 17 points for Florida A&M (8-12), which had its three-game winning streak snapped. Robinson finished with 13 points and Larry Jackson added 10 for the Rattlers.
The Rams shot 42 percent for the game and hit nearly 46 percent of their shots in the second half.
