Bowie’s 39 points lead Cent. Ark. over Nichools in 2 OT, 98-96
THIBODAUX, La. (AP)—Nate Bowie’s 39 points included the layup that broke a tie with 45 seconds left in the second overtime to beat Nicholls State 98-96 on Saturday.
Nicholls (6-16, 1-6 Southland) led by as many as 11 points in the second half and held a 41-35 halftime lead.
The Bears took their first lead, 65-64, with 5:30 left in the second period. By the end of the game, there had been 16 lead changes and 12 ties, including 77-all at the end of regulation and 87 after the first overtime.
Bowie was 7-of-12 on 3-point attempts, 10-of-19 from the floor and 12-of-17 at the free throw line. York Sims added 13 points for Central Arkansas ((12-9, 2-5 Southland), Marcus Pillow 11 and Brian Marks 10.
The Colonels (6-16, 1-6) were led by 25 points from Adonis Gray. Ryan Bathie added 21 points and four assists; Anatoly Bose had 17 points and eight rebounds. Gil Verner added 12.
Nicholls State led 41-35 at halftime, but Central Arkansas tied it at 77 at the end of regulation and 87 at the end of the first overtime.
