Campbell and Vaughan lead George Mason over James Madison 72-46

FAIRFAX, Va. (AP)—Folarin Campbell scored 20 points and John Vaughan added 19 to lead George Mason to a 72-46 win over James Madison on Saturday. Campbell scored 12 straight first-half points when the Patriots (16-6, 8-3 Colonial Athletic Association) took an early first-half lead that they never relinquished.

George Mason, which has won six of its last seven, held James Madison (10-11, 3-8) to its lowest point total of the season. The Dukes have lost six in a row—their longest losing streak since they ended last season with seven straight defeats.

James Madison’s problems started early. After taking a 2-0 lead, the Patriots scored 11 straight points, holding the Dukes scoreless for 6 1/2 minutes. Juwann James scored the first five field goals for James Madison, hitting five straight shots. By the time one of his teammates scored a field goal, the rest of the Dukes were 0-for-13 from the field.

James Madison, which has dropped nine straight to George Mason, closed to within 27-18 at halftime, but they missed 10 of their first 11 field goal attempts in the first eight minutes of the second half as the Patriots took a 38-21 lead. George Mason led by 72-41 with 1:11 to play.

James led the Dukes with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Abdulaih Jalloh had 16.

Coach Jim Larranaga recorded his 200th win for George Mason in front of the largest home crowd in school history—9,840. Larranaga, who led the Patriots to the NCAA Final Four in 2006, has 397 wins in his career. George Mason has won 11 straight home games.
