Alabama State Hornets fly to easy victory over Texas Southern

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP)—Andrew Hayles and Joel Bosh both scored 15 points in helping Alabama State make easy work of Texas Southern Saturday and glide to a 81-68 victory.

Bosh put the Hornets (11-7, 7-1 Southwestern Athletic Conference) on the board with a 3-pointer seconds into the game and Alabama State never looked back.

Texas Southern (4-17, 3-5) trailed 40-25 at the half after shooting 45 percent from the field compared to Alabama State’s 60 percent shooting.

Rashad Provitt scored 11 points for the Hornets and Jamarr Sanders followed with 10 while Roland Fitch had a game-high seven rebounds.

Texas Southern’s Sollie Norwood led all players with 19 points and David Burrell added 12. Damian Henderson rounded out the double-digit scoring for the Tigers with 10.
