Prodanovic leads Iona past St. Peter’s
JERSEY CITY, N.J. (AP)—Milan Prodanovic scored 19 points to lead Iona to a 60-52 win over St. Peter’s on Friday night.
Dexter Gray added 12 points, 12 rebounds and three blocked shots for the Gaels (9-15, 5-7 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference). Todd Sowell had 14 points and 12 rebounds for the Peacocks (4-17, 1-10), while Wesley Jenkins and Nick Leon each added 10 points.
Iona took command late in the first half, closing with a 13-4 run over the final five minutes to take a 34-25 lead at the break. The Gaels then held double-digit leads for most of the second half but could not put away the feisty Peacocks, who went on a late 13-3 run and cut the deficit to 54-51 when Sowell hit a layup with 1:21 remaining.
St. Peter’s would not get any closer, though, as Iona hit six straight free throws in the final 61 seconds.
