Scott scores 25 as IPFW beats S. Dakota St. 73-63
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP)—DeWitt Scott scored 25 points, including 5-of-9 3-pointers, and Demetrius Johnson had a key 3-pointer in the second half as IPFW beat South Dakota State 73-63 Thursday night in the Summit League.
The Coyotes had drawn within two at 61-59 with 4:35 left when Johnson hit a 3-pointer to launch a 12-2 run by the Mastodons (8-13, 5-5 Summit) that made it 73-61 with eight seconds left. South Dakota State’s Dale Moss then hit a layup to narrow the final margin to 10.
Johnson finished with 13 points and 10 assists for IPFW, which led 36-27 at the half. Jaraun Burrows had 11 points.
Ben Beran had 22 points to lead the Coyotes. Kai Williams scored 15 and Moss 10.
The game featured two ties and eight lead changes.
South Dakota State outrebounded IPFW 43-24.
