Figures’ 3-pointer leads N. Colorado to 80-77 win over N. Arizona
GREELEY, Colo. (AP)—Will Figures hit a 3-pointer with 1.3 seconds left and Sean Taibi scored 26 points as Northern Colorado ended a four-game losing streak with an 80-77 victory over Northern Arizona Thursday night.
Figures finished with 14 points and Taibi had six, 3-pointers for Northern Colorado (9-12 , 3-6 Big Sky). Taibi had gone three games without scoring in double figures.
Kyle Landry had 24 points and 12 rebounds and Nate Geiser added 14 points for Northern Arizona (14-8, 6-3). Josh Wilson had six assists and became the seventh player at the school to reach 500 assists (502) in a career. He passed DaShawn Freeman for sixth place all-time at Northern Arizona.
Two free throws by Zarko Comagic tied the game at 77 for Northern Colorado with 17.5 seconds left. After a timeout, Figures buried the 3-pointer from the left corner. Northern Arizona never got a shot off in the remaining time.
Jefferson Mason’s 3-pointer with 9:10 remaining capped an 8-0 for Northern Colorado and got the Bears within 61-59, but Geiser had a 3-pointer and Landry had six points of a 9-3 run as the Lumberjacks pulled ahead 70-62.
Northern Colorado took its first lead of the game, 75-74 on 3-pointers by Taibi and Figures. Matt Johnson tied it at 75 with a free throw with 1:22 left
Landry and Geiser had nine points to help the Lumberjacks to a 40-30 lead at the break.
