Alexander scores 18 as SFA beats Texas State 81-63
NACOGDOCHES, Texas (AP)—Josh Alexander scored 18 points and had nine rebounds to help lead Stephen F. Austin to an 81-63 victory over Texas State on Wednesday night.
Stephen F. Austin used a 16-3 run midway through the first half to take a 23-14 lead. Alexander hit a 3-pointer nine minutes into the game to give the Lumberjacks a 16-13 lead and Texas State scored only one field goal over an 11-minute stretch.
Stephen F. Austin led 38-30 at the half.
Alexander hit two 3-pointers on the night, leaving him one shy of the record 205 3-pointers made by Rontrek Floyd, who played for the Lumberjacks from 1992-1996.
Nick Shaw added 15 points for Stephen F. Austin (16-3, 4-2 Southland). Benson Akpan scored 12 and Matt Kingsley 11.
Ryan White led Texas State (10-10, 3-4) with 13 points.
