Carrington, White help Lehigh past Bucknell 56-54
LEWISBURG, Pa. (AP)—Zahir Carrington scored 19 points to lead Lehigh to a 56-54 victory over Bucknell on Wednesday.
Bryan White scored 13 points and had 11 rebounds while Marquis Hall also contributed 13 points for Lehigh (11-9, 4-2 Patriot League), which won its first victory on the road against the Bison since 2003.
Rob Thomas had 11 points and John Griffin had 10 for Bucknell (9-11, 4-2), which saw its 38-game Patriot League home win streak snapped.
Carrington scored 11 points to help Lehigh to a 29-24 halftime edge and the Mountain Hawks extended their lead to seven on a White layup. But the Bison scored six straight and then tied the score 36-36 on a Thomas jumper with 13:17 to go.
Bucknell tied the score again at 38 and at 42 on another Thomas jumper with 9:38 remaining, but Lehigh extended the margin to five on a White layup with 3:38 left.
A 3-pointer by Darryl Shazier got the Bison within one, 55-54, with two seconds left, but freshman Prentice Small sank one of his three free throws in four attempts in the final ten seconds for the final margin.
