Stegall leads Kennesaw State to victory over Savannah State
KENNESAW, Ga. (AP)—Shaun Stegall scored 27 points and Ronnell Wooten added 15 to lead Kennesaw State to a 79-77 victory over Savannah State on Tuesday night.
The Tigers (10-15) took a 63-60 lead with 7:39 left in the second half on a 3-pointer by Keron McKenzie, who had a team-leading 18 points from off the bench. McKenzie shot 11-for-11 from the field, making five from beyond the arc.
Kennesaw State (6-15) followed with a 7-0 run just over a minute later to claim a 67-63 lead. Stegall, who grabbed seven rebounds and had four assists, scored five points during the spurt.
Anthony Jones, who finished with 12 points, made two throws to help Savannah State cut the lead to 68-67 with 2:31 left in the game. But the Owls pushed their margin to seven points with 17 seconds remaining.
Tanner Jacobs scored 12 points for Kennesaw State, while Jon-Micha Nickerson had 11 points and Kelvin McConnell added 10.
Savannah State’s Chris Linton had 11 points and Raye Bailey added 10. Joseph Flegler had eight assists.
