Ervin scores 19 in Tenn. State’s 88-77 win over Jacksonville State
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP)—Reiley Ervin had 19 points, Gerald Robinson scored 18 and Tennessee State beat Jacksonville State 88-77 on Tuesday night.
The Tigers (10-11, 7-5 Ohio Valley Conference) shot 50 percent for the game, building a 46-22 halftime lead they never gave up.
Nick Murphy led the Gamecocks (4-17, 2-11) with 20 points and six rebounds. DeAndre Bray had 14 points, and Will Ginn added 12 points for Jacksonville State.
The Gamecocks cut Tennessee State’s lead to 79-70 with 1:47 to play, but it was too late. The Tigers clinched the game with free throws, shooting 81.8 percent for the game from the stripe.
