Carter’s double-double leads Murray’s win over Samford
MURRAY, Ky. (AP)—Bruce Carter had 19 points and 11 rebounds to lead Murray State to 62-34 win over Samford on Tuesday night.
The Racers (13-7, 9-3 Ohio Valley Conference) broke open the game with two runs, the first a 13-2 spurt that gave them a 20-10 lead with 13:19 left in the first half. Murray ended the half on a 23-5 run and led 45-20 at intermission.
The Bulldogs (9-12, 6-7) couldn’t get their offense going, finishing 13-of-45 (28.9 percent) from the floor, including a 7-of-30 night from 3-point range.
Tyler Holloway had 11 points for the Racers, and Danero Thomas added 10 points, as Murray shot 55.6 percent (10-of-18) from long range, including three from Holloway and two from Carter and Thomas. Kevin Thomas, who finished with nine points, was 3-of-3 from 3-point range.
Joe Ross Merritt led the Bulldogs with 11 points.
