Whatley leads BCC to 63-54 win over Md-Eastern Shore
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP)—Dominique Whatley scored 15 points and John Holmes added 13 as Bethune-Cookman University defeated Maryland-Eastern Shore, 63-54, in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference basketball Monday.
Bethune-Cookman, which had lost five of its previous six games, improved to 3-4 in MEAC play and 8-12 for the season. Maryland Eastern Shores as lost 10 straight and fell to 0-6 in conference action and 2-19 overall.
Ed Tyson paced the Hawks with a game-high 24 points. Teammate Marc Davis added 13 points.
Holmes hit a free throw to put the Wildcats ahead for good, 45-43, with 9:52 to play. Holmes also a game-high 18 rebounds.
Bethune-Cookman took a 27-25 lead into halftime.
