Tennessee State edges out Tech in 73-72 win
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (AP)—Gerald Robinson Jr. scored 27 points to help Tennessee State edge out Tennessee Tech in a 73-72 win Saturday afternoon.
LaDarious Weaver hit a three-point shot at the buzzer to lift Tennessee State (10-12, 7-5 Ohio Valley) from behind to win.
Tennessee Tech (8-12, 5-6) held the lead 72-70 with seven seconds remaining after Anthony Fisher scored on two free throws. Fisher shot 15 points for the game.
Robinson raced downcourt, but fumbled the ball when he was stopped by the defense at the top of the key. After recovering the ball, he found Weaver alone on the left wing.
Amadi McKenzie led Tech with 19 points and shot a perfect 7-of-7 field goals in the game. Daniel Northern added 12 rebounds and five blocked shots. Will Barnes added 14 points from the bench.
Bruce Price scored 13 points for Tennessee State, and Reiley Ervin added 10. ^
