Chris Davis’ 18 points lead Southern over Alabama A&M, 65-49
BATON ROUGE, La. (AP)—Chris Davis had 18 points to lead Southern to a 65-49 victory over Alabama A&M Saturday night.
The lead changed four times and the score was tied four times—the last on a tip-in by Mickell Gladness, who led all scorers with 19 points for Alabama A&M — before Southern (7-11,5-2 Southwestern Athletic Conference) went ahead for good eight seconds later.
That go-ahead layup by Steffon Wiley came with 2:43 left in the first half. The Jaguars (7-11) led 40-29 at halftime and were never less than nine points ahead for the rest of the game.
Gladness, who also had 11 rebounds, was the only player with more than six points for A&M (4-12, 1-5).
Joseph Jack had 13 points for Southern and Barry Honore 10.
