Bulldogs hang to beat Stetson
BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. (AP)—Nate Blank had 15 points to rescue Gardner-Webb in a 55-50 win over Stetson on Thursday night.
Blank’s play helped the Bulldogs (9-11, 3-3 Atlantic Sun) as their two leading scorers, Thomas Sanders and Grayson Flittner, combined for only 9 points — 22 fewer than the pair of averaged this season.
Blank had 13 of of his points during the first half, which Gardner-Webb closed with a 16-4 to take control, 31-24. The Bulldogs led by as many as 12 points in the second half before Stetson (9-11, 4-2) worked its way back in with a 13-3 run that cut things to 46-42 with about four minutes left.
Aaron Linn scored four straight points to keep Gardner-Webb out front.
Matt French added 11 points and 12 rebounds, while Linn finished with nine points and a career-high 10 rebounds for the Bulldogs.
Garfield Blair had 21 points for Stetson, which came in with a five-game winning streak.
