Jackson, Nurse lead Western Illinois to 65-50 win over IPFW
MACOMB, Ill. (AP)—David Nurse and David Jackson each scored 13 points to lead Western Illinois to a 65-50 win over Indiana-Purdue-Fort Wayne on Thursday night.
The game was tied at 26 at the half but Western Illinois (9-10, 4-4 Summit) pulled away after the break on 52 percent shooting, compared with 32 percent shooting for IPFW (7-12, 4-4).
David Dubois added 10 points and 10 rebounds and James Washington chipped in 10 points for the Leathernecks, who outrebounded the Mastodons 38-28.
Ben Botts had a game-high 15 points, including four 3-pointers, for IPFW. DeWitt Scott scored 14 points and Jaraun Burrows added 13 points while fouling out for the Mastodons.
The game was marred by three technical fouls—one to the IPFW bench, and one each to Western Illinois’ Louis Johnson and Jerryck Owens-Murrey.
