Reed helps lead Austin Peay to 73-62 win over Jacksonville St.
JACKSONVILLE, Ala. (AP)—Drake Reed had 17 points to help lead Austin Peay to a 73-62 win over Jacksonville State Thursday night.
Austin Peay (13-7, 9-1 Ohio Valley Conference) started the game slow shooting 1-for-10 from the floor, allowing the Gamecocks (4-15, 9-1 OVC) to take a 24-13 lead. Then the Governors went on a 20-5 run late in the first half to lead 33-27 going into the half, and never gave up the lead again.
Drake was joined in double figure scoring by four other Austin Peay players. Derek Wright had 14 points. Fernandez Lockett and Ernest Fields chipped in with 12 points apiece, and Kyle Duncan added 10 more. Fields also had 10 rebounds.
Nick Murphy led the Gamecocks in scoring with 17 points. J.J. Wesley added 14, Amadou Mbodji added 13 and Will Ginn helped out with 11 more.
