Sabia scores 16 and Hartford holds off Stony Brook 83-81
WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (AP)—Michael Turner scored 17 points and Morgan Sabia added 16 as Hartford held off Stony Brook 83-81 on Thursday night.
The Hawks (10-11, 4-2 American East), led by 10 points in the second half, before Stony Brook (4-5, 1-6) made a late run.
The Seawolves had the ball with a chance to tie or win in the final seconds, but Hartford’s Anthony Minor knocked the ball away from Stony Brook’s Ricky Lucus and the ball rolled into the backcourt as time expired.
Lucus led all scorers with 31 points. He was 8-of-11 from the floor and hit all ten of his free throws.
Sabia hit 6-of-8 shots from the floor, including four 3-pointers.
Stony Brook took an early 20-15 lead, before Hartford went on a 20-5 run, highlighted by five 3-pointers.
The Hawks led 44-35 at intermission.
