Holston leads Chicago State past Cal State Northridge, 83-75

CHICAGO (AP)—David Holston scored a game-high 25 points and had six assists to lead Chicago State past Cal State Northridge 83-75 on Tuesday night.

Holston, who sank 6-of-7 free throws, led five Chicago State (8-14) players in double digits. John Cantrell added 14 points, Carl Montgomery scored 11 and Kevin Jones chipped in 10. Tawrence Walton came off the bench to score 13 points and a game-high 12 rebounds.

The Cougars led 48-40 at the half in a nonconference game that saw the lead change just once.

Cal State Northridge (13-4) shot just 39.7 percent from the floor, compared with 50.9 percent for Chicago State.

Rodrigue Mels came off the bench to score a team-high 18 points on 6-of-8 shooting for the Matadors. Josh Jenkins and Rob Haynes scored 15 points apiece, while Paul Wayne added 14 points and had six assists.
