Leasure powers Coastal Carolina past High Point, 66-61
HIGH POINT, N.C. (AP)—Jack Leasure hit eight 3-pointers and scored 33 points to lead Coastal Carolina to its first road victory of the season, 66-61, over High Point on Saturday night.
Leasure, who was one point shy of his career high, shot 8-for-15 from 3-point range for the Chanticleers (9-7, 2-1 Big South Conference), who nearly blew a 20-point second-half lead.
Arizona Reid had 25 points and 12 rebounds for High Point (8-8, 1-2), and his shot in the lane with 1:10 left cut Coastal Carolina’s lead to 63-61.
After the Chanticleers turned it over, Tim Burns missed a go-ahead 3-point attempt before Steven Sexton’s free throws put it away for Coastal Carolina, which had been 0-6 on the road.
Leasure hit two free throws with just over 10 minutes left to give the Chanticleers a 53-33 lead. Reid then led High Point’s 14-0 run to get back in it.
Mario Sisinni hit four 3s and added 12 points for Coastal Carolina.
David Campbell had 13 points and Eugene Harris 11 for High Point, which had a 10-game home winning streak snapped.
