Flato’s 3-pointer helps Yale beat Brown 66-63
NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP)—Eric Flato hit a tiebreaking 3-pointer with 2:17 left in overtime and Yale beat Brown 66-63 on Saturday night.
Ross Morin scored 24 points and Flato finished with 15 for the Bulldogs (7-8, 1-0 Ivy League).
Damon Huffman and Mark McAndrew both scored 15 for the Bears (8-7, 0-1).
Flato?s 3-pointer gave Yale a 64-61 lead. After a layup by Huffman, Flato hit two free throws to make it 66-63 with 49 seconds to play.
Huffman missed a tying 3-pointer with 27 seconds left but Brown got another chance after Yale’s Caleb Holmes couldn’t convert two free throws. Huffman and Peter Sullivan both missed 3s in the final seconds for the Bears.
Holmes made two free throws with 25 seconds left in regulation to tie it at 57. It was his only points of the game.
Travis Pinick finished with 11 points, 11 rebounds and five assists for Yale, which outrebounded Brown 40-28.
