Balanced Winston-Salem State beats Howard, 64-56
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP)—Jamal Durham led a balanced attack with 12 points and Winston-Salem State beat Howard 64-56 on Saturday night.
Darrell Wonge added 11 points and Brian Fisher scored 10 for the Rams (7-8), who held the Bison to 32 percent shooting in the second half to win for the third time in four games.
Fisher’s three-point play ignited a 10-2 run, capped by Durham’s jumper, that put Winston-Salem State ahead 54-42 with 7:53 left. The Bison, who never led, got no closer than five points the rest of the way.
Eugene Myatt scored 14 points and Randy Hampton added 11 points, nine rebounds and six assists for Howard (4-13), which committed 16 turnovers in its ninth loss in 10 games.
