Vereen, Guignard lead Mavericks to 73-67 win over SE Louisiana
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP)—Anthony Vereen and Rog’er Guignard scored 14 points apiece to lead Texas-Arlington to a 73-67 win over Southeastern Louisiana on Saturday.
Vereen knocked down six of seven shots from the field, and Guignard hit five of six. The Mavericks (12-4, 2-2 Southland) shot nearly 60 percent from the field.
Jermaine Griffin scored 12 points, Larry Posey had 11 points and nine rebounds, and Hunter Cardell added 10 points.
Kevyn Green led the Lions (10-7, 2-2) with 25 points and nine rebounds. Warrell Span scored 13 points and Tavaris Nance had 12.
Southeastern Louisiana was plagued by poor shooting, including just 6-of-22 from 3-point range.
The Mavericks opened a 39-30 halftime lead. The Lions, who never led, are 0-10 at Texas-Arlington.
