Tuck leads Loyola, Md. past St. Peters
JERSEY CITY, N.J. (AP)—Michael Tuck scored 22 points and pulled down 16 rebounds as Loyola of Maryland held on for a 62-57 win over St. Peter’s on Saturday.
Brett Harvey finished with 13 points—including a key 3-pointer in the closing minutes—and Marquis Sullivan added 12 for the Greyhounds (9-10, 5-3 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference).
Wesley Jenkins scored 18 points—all on 3-pointers—to lead the Peacocks (4-13, 1-6), while Todd Sowell finished with 13 points and nine rebounds.
Loyola led for most of the game but had trouble putting away the Peacocks, who rallied late and cut the lead to 59-56 on Sowell’s layup with 21 seconds left to play. They would not get any closer, though, and the Greyhounds sealed the win by going 3-for-4 from the free throw line in the closing seconds.
Loyola also won the battle of the boards, outrebounding St. Peter’s 38-34.
