Calathes, Nivens lead Saint Joe’s past Penn 82-42
PHILADELPHIA (AP)—Pat Calathes scored 18 points and Ahmad Nivins 15, and all 12 players scored as Saint Joseph’s rolled to an 82-42 victory over city rival Penn on Saturday night.
Rob Ferguson added 12 points for Saint Joseph’s (10-5), which hit on 32 of 56 shots in the win.
The victory was the 250th, against 144 losses, for Saint Joseph’s coach Phil Martelli, in his 13th season with the Hawks.
Kevin Egee had nine points for the Quakers (5-11), who made just 16 of 59 shots and had 19 turnovers.
The Hawks hit on eight of their first 12 shots, including five 3-pointers, and built a 21-3 lead. Penn missed 10 of its first 11 shots.
The Hawks’ lead reached 32-7 with 5:26 left in the half, and a 3-pointer by Calathes with 15 seconds left made it 38-14 at the break.
A 15-5 run at the start of the second half gave Saint Joseph’s a 53-19 advantage with 14:44 remaining.
