Rush leads North Carolina A&T over Md.-Eastern Shore
PRINCESS ANNE, Md. (AP)—Steve Rush scored 20 points including 18 in the first half to lead North Carolina A&T to a 61-49 win Saturday over Maryland-Eastern Shore.
Austin Ewing added 11 points and Jason Willis and freshman Thomas Coleman had 10 points apiece. Wills also added 10 rebounds.
Rush scored 13 of the Aggies first 15 points and had 18 first-half points as North Carolina A&T took a 29-19 lead with 6:28 left in the first half.
The Aggies (7-9) shot 38 percent from the field, but hit 9-of-21 3-pointers.
Maryland-Eastern Shore (2-15) shot just 26 percent from the field including 4-of-23 from behind the 3-point arc and made 13-of-24 from the line.
The Hawks cut the lead to three points twice in the second half, the last 48-45 with 7:49 left, but could not overcome their poor shooting. Ed Tyson led the Hawks with 13 points and seven rebounds, but was held to just 5-of-20 from the field including 1-of-9 from 3-point range. Marc Davis had 11 points and Jahmal Bivens grabbed eight rebounds.
