Troy’s Jonus scores 30 in win over Arkansas St.
JONESBORO, Ark. (AP)—Justin Jonus went 10-for-10 from the free-throw line and finished with 30 points to lead Troy to an 89-80 win Saturday night over Sun Belt Conference foe Arkansas State.
Jonus also hit 4-for-7 of his shots from long distance.
His free-throw shooting was matched by teammate O’Darien Bassett, also 10-for-10, and the Trojans (9-9, 2-5) as a team missed only 1 of 24 foul shots. Bassett finished with 24 points and was credited with five steals, while Trayce Macon scored 16.
Troy led 46-44 at halftime.
Arkansas State (8-10, 3-5) was led by Adrian Banks and Ryan Wedel, with 18 points each. Yima Chia-Kur and Mike Lance scored 14 apiece for the Indians, and Kewain Gant added 12.
