Carter leads UC Davis to 74-57 win over UC Irvine
DAVIS, Calif. (AP)—David Carter had 19 points, seven rebounds and two assists to help UC Davis cruise past UC Irvine 74-57 on Thursday night.
Vince Oliver had 18 points and Kyle Brucculeri added 13 points for the Aggies (8-9, 2-2 Big West). UC Davis made 12 of 21 treys against UC Irvine.
Patrick Sanders’ 18 points and Michael Hunter’s 10 points led the Anteaters (7-10, 2-2 Big West).
Mark Payne’s free throw handed the Aggies a comfortable 53-30 lead with 11:02 left in the second half.
The Anteaters fought back to trim the lead 62-50 on basket by Hunter at the 4:23 mark, but they never got closer than that.
While the Anteaters missed their first seven shots, Brucculeri hit a 3-point shot to give the Aggies a 17-0 start in the first half. UC Irvine used a three-guard offense to cut UC Davis’ lead 25-15, but the Aggies went on to end the half ahead 34-23.
