Darnell’s last minute shots help Tribe squeeze out win
WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (AP)—Chris Darnell scored 12 points and made a 3-pointer with 1:26 that put William & Mary up for good in its 55-53 win over Northeastern on Wednesday night.
Darnell tied the score at 47 with a layup with 7:07 left in the game, but Eugene Spates’ 3-pointer put the Huskies (6-10, 2-4 Colonial Athletic Association) up 50-47 with 6:51 left in the game.
Nkem Ojougboh led the Huskies with 14 points.
Matt Janning made an early 3-pointer, Ojougboh scored 10 in the first half and Northeastern led 34-22 at halftime.
Darnell sank a pair of jumpers and a 3-pointer early in the second half, pulling the Tribe (8-8, 4-2) back into the game.
