Lee scores 27 as Western Kentucky beats Florida Atlantic 80-62
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP)—Courtney Lee scored 27 points as Western Kentucky coasted to an 80-62 victory over Florida Atlantic Wednesday night.
Lee hit four 3-pointers, shooting 11-of-21 from the floor, as the Hilltoppers (13-5, 5-1 Sun Belt Conference) built a 19-point lead at halftime and led by as many as 27 points.
The Owls (5-13, 1-6) struggled in the first half on 10-of-29 shooting (34.5 percent).
Western Kentucky trailed 16-13 with 12:33 remaining in the half, but then went on a 16-0 run to go up 29-16 with 8:10 left in the half. Tyrone Brazelton scored nine consecutive points during the spurt.
Brazelton finished with 17 points for the Hilltoppers.
Carderro Nwoji paced Florida Atlantic with 19 points. Carlos Monroe, the Owls’ leading scorer at 17.1 points per game, finished with just five points on 2-of-10 shooting.
