Kent scores 20 for Toledo in 72-61 win over Central Michigan
TOLEDO, Ohio (AP)—Tyrone Kent scored 20 points and Jonathan Amos had 19 as Toledo pulled away in the second half Wednesday night to ensure a 72-61 win over Central Michigan.
The Rockets (5-10, 2-1 Mid-American) scored 11 straight points to go up 31-17 with 2:13 left in the first half. But Central Michigan (6-9, 1-2) narrowed the gap to seven at halftime and then tied the game at 34 early in the second half.
Kent made a jumper to regain the lead for Toledo and scored five more points during an 18-4 run that gave the Rockets another 14-point cushion, 52-38, with 10:52 left. Amos scored six points during the rally.
Central Michigan got to within seven at about the two minute mark, but couldn’t score again.
Jerrah Young scored 13 and Ridley Johnson added 10 for Toledo. Giordan Watson scored 23 points and Chris Kellerman had 10 for the Chippewas.
