Bennett leads South Alabama to a 85-73 win over Fla International

MOBILE, Ala. (AP)—Demetric Bennett had 30 points, 20 of them in the first half, to lead South Alabama to a 85-73 win over Florida International Wednesday night.

South Alabama (14-3, 6-0 SBC) went on a 16-2 run to break a 31-31 tie midway through the first half, helping the Jaguars to their 10th straight victory.

Bennett shot 10 of 17 from the field and led all scorers. He was joined in double figure scoring for the Jaguars by Daniel Hayles with 11 points and DeAndre Coleman with 10.

Kenneth White led Florida International (5-11, 2-4 SBC) with 22 points.

The Jaguars shot 50 percent from the floor and had 12 steals.
