Auburn gets Southeastern Conference win over LSU

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP)—DeWayne Reed scored 20 points as Auburn defeated Southeastern Conference rival LSU 74-67 on Wednesday night.

Auburn, which trailed by 17 points in the first half, scored 11 straight late in the game to grab the win.

Frank Tolbert gave Auburn the lead for good on a field goal with 3:33 remaining in the game. LSU then turned the ball over on two straight possessions. Auburn, which shot 69 percent from the field in the second half, converted each time with a basket by Quantez Robertson and a 3-pointer by DeWayne Reed.

Two foul shots by Quan Prowell and a basket by Rasheem Barrett put Auburn on top 71-61 with one minute to play. LSU ended its scoring drought on a field goal by Marcus Thornton with 45 seconds remaining.

Joining Reed in double figures was Tolbert, who scored 16 points for Auburn (10-5, 1-2), while Prowell had 12 and Lucas Hargrove had 10.

Thornton matched his season high with 27 points for LSU (7-10, 0-3). Garrett Temple scored 17, while Anthony Randolph had 12 points.
