Moore, Coble lead Northwestern to 65-47 win over Chicago State
CHICAGO (AP)—Craig Moore scored a game-high 22 points and Kevin Coble had his first double-double of the season as Northwestern beat Chicago State 65-47 on Wednesday night to snap a four-game losing streak.
Coble, coming off a career-high 34 points in the Wildcats’ loss to Michigan on Saturday, scored 19 points and 14 rebounds for Northwestern (6-8).
The game was tied 24-24 at halftime after both teams struggled on offense. They combined to shoot 32.7 percent (19-for-58) from the field while hitting only 4-of-23 3-point attempts.
Northwestern took control of the game with a 14-3 run to start the second half. The Wildcats shot 55.2 percent (16-for-29) after the break.
David Holston had 15 points, six rebounds and four assists for Chicago State (6-14). Freshman Carl Montgomery added 13 points and eight rebounds as the Cougars lost for the sixth time in eight games.
Chidozie Chukwumah added four blocks for Chicago State, which shot 34 percent from the field (17-for-50).
