Castleberry’s 15 points leads Bucknell over American, 66-62
LEWISBURG, Pa. (AP)—Justin Castleberry scored 15 points, including six clutch free throws in the final 25 seconds, as Bucknell beat American University 66-62 Wednesday night.
Jason Vegotsky hit the go-ahead jumper with 1:04 to play, only his second field goal of the night, as Bucknell (7-9, 2-0 Patriot League) rallied back from an 11-point halftime deficit. He had a total of 7 points, including 3 points from free throws. John Griffin had 11 for Bucknell.
Garrison Carr led all scorers with a career-high 30 points for the Eagles (9-8, 1-1). Carr scored 18 of his points in the first half, 12 of them on 3-pointers. Derrick Mercer, who had 12 points, was the only other player in double figures for American.
Wednesday’s game was Bucknell’s eighth straight victory over American, and it was the Bison’s 13th straight regular-season win.
