Jeff Foote scores 10 and Cornell defense stifles N.J. Tech 64-33
NEWARK, N.J. (AP)—Jeff Foote led Cornell with 10 points and the Big Red held winless New Jersey Institute of Technology to just nine first-half points in cruising to a 64-33 win on Tuesday night.
Thirteen different players scored for Cornell (8-5). Adam Gore and Geoff Reeves both had eight points.
Kraig Peters had 10 points as seven rebounds to lead NJIT (0-19). The Highlanders shot just 20 percent from the field.
NJIT scored the first two points of the game on a dunk by Kyle Edwards, and tied the game at 4-4 on a jumper by Nesho Milosevic with 14:51 to go in the first half, but from there on it was all Cornell.
Two free throws by Louis Dale triggered and 11-0 Cornell run, giving the Big Red a 15-4 lead with 8:19 remaining in the half. Cornell led 25-9 at intermission and extended its lead to as much as 35 points in the second half.
