Williams, VMI beat Coastal Carolina 107-100
CONWAY, S.C. (AP)—Reggie Williams had 38 points and 12 rebounds Monday night to help VMI rally past Coastal Carolina 107-100.
Williams hit 15 of 27 shots and had six assists to lead the Keydets (10-6, 2-0 Big South Conference), while Chavis Holmes added 20 points. VMI shot 54 percent in the second half and erased a 17-point deficit in the final 9 minutes, allowing the Keydets to surpass their national-best average of 97.1 points per game coming in.
Everage Richardson had 26 points and eight rebounds for the Chanticleers (8-7, 1-1), who shot 51 percent for the game and lost despite turning in their best scoring day of the season.
Coastal Carolina led 79-62 before VMI rallied with a 34-9 spurt over the next six minutes. It was the Keydets’ seventh win in eight games.
