Central Connecticut 75, Long Island University 59
NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (AP)—Tristan Blackwood scored 20 points and had eight assists to lead Central Connecticut to a 75-59 win over Long Island University on Monday night.
Blackwood was one of five players in double figures for the Blue Devils (7-10, 3-3 Northeast Conference), who overcame a sluggish first half. Aaron Hall gave the Blue Devils a lift off the bench with 12 points on 6-for-6 shooting.
Jaytornah Wisseh had 14 points for the Blackbirds (9-6, 1-3).
Central had just a 32-30 lead at the break but used an uptempo attack in the second period to pull away. The Blue Devils went on an 8-2 run early in the period, then extended the lead to 46-36 with about 13 minutes remaining.
Ken Horton finished with 10 points and 11 rebounds for Central, while Shemik Thompson had 11 points and Joe Seymore 12.
