Jason Thompson leads Rider past Loyola, Md.
LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. (AP)—Jason Thompson scored 28 points, pulled down 17 rebounds and blocked five shots to lead Rider to an 81-67 win over Loyola of Maryland on Sunday.
Ryan Thompson added 16 points, seven assists and six rebounds and Harris Mansell had 13 points for the Broncs (11-6, 4-2 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference). Gerald Brown had 20 points and six rebounds to lead the Greyhounds (7-10, 3-3), while Michael Tuck and Marquis Sullivan each scored 10 points.
Rider broke open a close game by ending the first half with a 6-2 run, then scoring nine straight points after the break to take a 51-39 lead.
The Greyhounds then tried to rally, hitting two straight baskets, but the Broncs responded with a 12-2 run to seal the win.
