Siena 72, Canisius 44
BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP)—Clarence Jackson scored a season-high 13 points with 5 rebounds as Siena swept its western New York swing, downing Canisius 72-44 Sunday.
Ronald Moore scored 10 points with 9 assists and Edwin Ubiles scored 10 points for Siena (10-6, 5-1 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference).
The Saints shot just 38.8 percent from the floor, but were afforded 67 shots from a porous Canisius defense which allowed 17 second-chance points and 28 points off turnovers.
Canisius (2-14, 0-6 MAAC) committed 23 turnovers in dropping its fourth straight and sixth of its last seven. The Griffs shot 39.1 percent from the floor (18-of-46) and were outrebounded by the Saints 45 to 29.
Canisius jumped out to an early eight-point advantage as Siena missed five straight from the floor. Ubiles? slam dunk sparked a 14-2 Saints run that ended with Clarence Jackson?s 3-pointer giving Siena a 6-point margin before taking a 34-25 lead at halftime.
Siena opened the second half by hitting 4-of-8 for a 9-2 run. The Saints shot 42.4 percent in the second half and were 8-of-10 from the foul line (14-for-17 for the game) in opening a 28-point lead.
