Courtney Lee scores 19 to lead W. Kentucky
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP)—Courtney Lee scored 19 points as Western Kentucky coasted to a 76-60 Sun Belt Conference victory over Florida International Saturday night.
The Hilltoppers (12-5, 4-1 Sun Belt) used a 9-0 run near the end of the first half to take a 35-22 lead and were never challenged after that.
The Golden Panthers (5-10, 2-3) trailed by as many as 22 points with 12:18 to play in the second half and never got closer than 14 the rest of the way.
Lee made 6 of 14 shots from the floor, including one 3-pointer, and all six of his free throws to lead the Hilltoppers, who hit 16 of 28 shots (57 percent) from the floor in the second half and converted 50 percent of their shots (29 of 57) for the game.
Lee was the only Hilltopper to finish in double figures, but Steffphon Pettigrew and Tyrone Brazelton scored nine points each.
Nikola Gacesa scored 13 points to lead the Golden Panthers, while Alex Galindo added 10.
