Salter keys TCU’s fast start in 83-56 victory against Wyoming
FORT WORTH, Texas (AP)—Henry Salter scored 20 points and TCU opened with a 13-0 run in an 83-56 victory against Wyoming on Saturday night.
Salter had three 3-pointers in the first 3 1/2 minutes for the Horned Frogs (9-6, 1-1 Mountain West), and he finished 5-of-8 from 3-point range.
Brandon Ewing led the Cowboys (6-8, 0-2) with 17 points, but he was 0-for-4 from 3-point range. Wyoming was 2-of-16 on 3-pointers and shot just 25 percent in the first half, which ended with TCU in front 40-22.
Kevin Langford, who finished with 16, had the other four points during the opening 13-0 run. TCU pushed its lead to 22-4 by the 12:19 mark of the first half, and Wyoming was never closer than 14 the rest of the way.
TCU took its biggest lead at 34 points (63-29) after a 12-0 run early in the second half.
Brent Hackett had 15 points on 7-of-11 shooting and four assists for the Horned Frogs. Jason Ebie had seven points, seven rebounds and six assists.
