ATHENS, Ohio (AP)—Jerome Tillman scored 19 points and Leon Williams 18 to lead Ohio past Miami (Ohio) 72-63 on Saturday.
Tillman hit 7-of-10 shots from the field and Williams 8-of-12 as the Bobcats (10-5, 1-1 Mid-American Conference) shot 51 percent from the field.
Ahead 39-34 at the half, the Bobcats ran off the first eight points of the second half on a free throw by Michael Allen, a Tillman layup, a Justin Orr jumper and a 3-pointer by Kenneth Van Kempen.
The RedHawks (6-8, 0-2) trailed by as many as 16 points after that, but were able to cut the lead to 61-55 on Tyler Dierkers’ layup with 2:53 remaining. But Williams followed with a three-point play and later added a dunk to keep the Bobcats in control.
Tim Pollitz had 13 points, Kenny Hayes 12 and Michael Bramos 11 for Miami, which also shot 51 percent from the field but made only 4-of-18 3-point attempts.
